Per-app volume & audio routing for Mac, simple key controls.

What it does
Windows has had a per-app volume mixer for 15 years. macOS still doesn't. Fader fixes that: set any running app's volume straight from your keyboard — one letter per app — route each app to its own output device, and save mixer setups you can recall instantly. It lives in your menu bar, handles up to 10 apps at once, and is fully App Store sandboxed — no cloud, no account, no audio drivers to install.
A per-app volume mixer and audio router for Mac. Set any app
A per-app audio mixer that lives on letter keys. Tap a shortcut, drag your fingers across the keyboard, watch every app's volume move in real time. No hardware controller. No menu spelunking. Just a faster way to ride the levels you actually care about. Hold a key. Drag a fader. Tap a chip to mute. Use your real keyboard — the Q/A/Z column controls Zoom, W/S/X is Spotify, E/D/C is your browser. (Just like in the app.) Press ⌘ ⇧ F in the real app to exit. Here, just drag the bars with your mouse or hit Q W E R T on your keyboard. Fader's Console is where you map letters, set your toggle hotkey, pick output devices for the Pro routing, and switch profiles. It opens once when you set up — then…from fader.jfound.net

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
