Filemat – an open-source web-based file manager
Hello HN, I would like to share Filemat, a web-based file manager that I built because I wanted something with a simple setup and file permissions that work across the filesystem (as opposed to permissions only for a folder managed by the app). It's self-hosted and open-source (currently in beta). I'd be happy to hear your feedback Repo: https://github.com/bingud/filemat
In plain words
Filemat is an open-source, self-hosted web-based file manager currently in beta. It offers simple setup and file permissions that apply across the entire filesystem rather than just app-managed folders. The tool is designed for users who need straightforward file management with flexible permission controls and can be deployed on their own servers.

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
