FixScript, an embedded/standalone language with custom syntax additions
Hello, I want to introduce you to a programming language that I've been working on for a few years and is ready to be shared with a broader community. Feel free to ask any question about it, it's hard to describe what it is all about in a single blog post. For examples of a more complex code I recommend looking into to the "src" directory in the SDK. And here are some documentation links: https://www.fixscript.org/docs/sdk/fixscript/index.html https://www.fixscript.org/docs
FixScript, an embedded/standalone language with custom syntax additions launched on January 9, 2023 with 31 votes, #1,259 of 3,901 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.
In plain words
FixScript is a programming language designed to work both as an embedded tool and standalone system, featuring custom syntax additions developed over several years. It serves developers who need flexible language integration for various projects. The language includes comprehensive documentation and code examples in its SDK, though its full capabilities extend beyond simple description and benefit from direct exploration of the source code and documentation.

From the sources
FixScript is a programming language which is both embeddable and standalone with strong support for backward and forward compatibility. It has familiar C-like syntax with ability to create new syntaxes using token processors. It started as a very simple scripting language for a specific need. But when I caught myself using it also for the main program ( FixBrowser ) it became obvious that the language is much more than just for the scripting. The key theme of the language (and the implementation) is simplicity. But not that kind of simplicity that limits you but empowers you. I've made sure to include everything essential while not making it bloated or too complex. FixScript provides a…from fixscript.org

ScrapScript – A tiny functional language for sharable software2023 · scrapscript.org · ▲503Hi friends, I started casually working on scrapscript in 2015. I built a few compilers over the years to test out various ideas/implementations, and I think I'm finally happy with the overall design. The code is not public yet. Email me at [email protected] if you're interested in joining the core team later this year. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback :)
Bolt – A super-fast, statically-typed scripting language written in C2025 · github.com · ▲261I've built many interpreters over the years, and Bolt represents my attempt at building the scripting language I always wanted. This is the first public release, 0.1.0! I've felt like most embedded languages have been moving towards safety and typing over years, with things like Python type hints, the explosive popularity of typescript, and even typing in Luau, which powers one of the largest scripted evironments in the world. Bolt attempts to harness this directly in the lagnauge rather than as a preprocessing step, and reap benefits in terms of both safety and performance. I intend to be…

Dak – a Lisp-like language that transpiles to JavaScript2023 · daklang.com · ▲94Hi HN, author here. Happy to answer any questions. I had an itch to make a lisp like language that was a thin layer on top JavaScript. Something that could leverage the thriving ecosystem that exists around JavaScript. It's brittle, hot off the oven. Besides being a fan of parenthesis, I think macros fill in a gap that the JavaScript ecosystem today fills in with one-off compilers, bundler plugins and such. Macros can't do everything, but for example I think they have the potential to enable things like JSX, Solid and Svelte style libraries. Take the tour to get a feel for what it can do and…

Talanoa▲341Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

This works suprisingly well. Just give it instructions like "make it winter" or "remove the cars" and the photo is altered. Here are some examples of transformations it can make: Golden gate bridge: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brycedrennan/imaginAIry/ma... The project is called QueryStorm. It uses Roslyn to offer C# (and VB.NET) support in Excel, as an alternative to VBA. I've posted about it before, but a lot has changed since then so figured I'd share an update. The current version includes a host of new features, namely a C# debugger, support for NuGet packages, and the ability to publish Excel extensions to an "AppStore" (which is essentially a NuGet repository). The AppStore can be used by anyone with the (free) runtime component. Another great addition is the community license, which is a free license for individuals and small companies…

Hey HN! Some more info: I’m an NHS doctor and the founder of Pi-A (https://www.pi-a.io) which developed Lungy (https://www.lungy.app). Lungy is an app (iOS only for now) that responds to breathing in real-time and was designed to make breathing exercises more engaging and beneficial to do. It hopefully has many aspects of interest to the HN community – real-time fluid, cloth and soft body sims running on the phone’s GPU. My background is as a junior surgical trainee and I started building Lungy in 2020 during the first COVID lockdown in London. During COVID, there were…
