FLARE
Decision-Ready Wildfire Intelligence
What it does
Utilities lose infrastructure. Insurers reprice regions. Agencies arrive too late. Always the same cause: resolution and refresh rate have never come together -- until now. FLARE delivers 375m FireScore from geostationary satellites every 5 minutes, full CONUS. FireScore detects fire activity earlier than existing tools and tracks progression continuously -- not just a single hotspot flag. Daily 375m risk index, 15-day outlook, and mitigation simulator coming soon.

- IBI built a real-time OSINT dashboard pulling 15 live global feedsMar 2026 · github.com · ▲312
Sup HN, So I got tired of bouncing between Flightradar, MarineTraffic, and Twitter every time something kicked off globally, so I wrote a dashboard to aggregate it all locally. It’s called Shadowbroker. I’ll admit I leaned way too hard into the "movie hacker" aesthetic for the UI, but the actual pipeline underneath is real. It pulls commercial/military ADS-B, the AIS WebSocket stream (about 25,000+ ships), N2YO satellite telemetry, and GDELT conflict data into a single MapLibre instance. Getting this to run without melting my browser was the hardest part. I'm running this on a laptop…
- SASignet – Autonomous wildfire tracking from satellite and weather dataMar 2026 · signet.watch · ▲123
I built Signet in Go to see if an autonomous system could handle the wildfire monitoring loop that people currently run by hand - checking satellite feeds, pulling up weather, looking at terrain and fuels, deciding whether a detection is actually a fire worth tracking. All the data already exists: NASA FIRMS thermal detections, GOES-19 imagery, NWS forecasts, LANDFIRE fuel models, USGS elevation, Census population data, OpenStreetMap. The problem is it arrives from different sources on different cadences in different formats. Most of the system is deterministic plumbing - ingestion, spatial…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
