Flashbackr – a simple way to capture and organise digital content

Hi everyone, We've just released our v2 and are finally ready to show HN flashbackr is meant as a solution to make it easy to capture all your important or meaningful digital objects (as we like to call them). Save webclips, files, Tweets, YouTube videos etc... We don't use folders to organise these, instead we use different categories of tags which we haven't seen anywhere else: we believe this makes searches more intuitive, flexible and scalable. We've got a Chrome extension, android app and the iOS app is coming out soon. For anyone using Icebergs (which just got acquired by Pinterest) we…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hi everyone, We've just released our v2 and are finally ready to show HN flashbackr is meant as a solution to make it easy to capture all your important or meaningful digital objects (as we like to call them). Save webclips, files, Tweets, YouTube videos etc... We don't use folders to organise these, instead we use different categories of tags which we haven't seen anywhere else: we believe this makes searches more intuitive, flexible and scalable. We've got a Chrome extension, android app and the iOS app is coming out soon. For anyone using Icebergs (which just got acquired by Pinterest) we also have an import tool to migrate your account. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, you can make an account by signing up on the home page http://flashbackr.com and here is a link to the welcome tutorial video if you want to get a feel for the product first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQUn5Gjo8f8 Cheers! SocialFolders, "Dropbox for social"2012 · ▲187

Hey fellow HN-ers, I'd like to ask HN about my latest startup: SocialFolders. We take a Dropbox-like approach to managing your content on your social networks by mirroring all the content you have on these networks in folders on your computer. Moving this content around, between folders or between services, is mirrored in the all-mighty "cloud" (ugh, I hate this word). We'd love to know what you think. We think our approach solves the problem of managing content at scale. We put together a quick 2'30 screencast to show HN how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s2TFsVezZQ If you want…

clipboard.com, the best way to save anything online2012 · ▲104

We are longtime members of HN and this is our only submission requesting feedback from the HN community on our product, Clipboard which we have been developing for the past year. Clipboard is a service to save anything online using a bookmarklet or browser extension (think Dropbox for content on the web). Clipboard is built using open source technologies, including Riak, Redis, NGINX, Node.js, and jQuery. One of our core differentiators is how we preserve the visual look and functionality of the original source, which is evident in the sample clips from github here:…

    Bvckup 2 – Fast File Replicator for Windows2019 · bvckup2.com · ▲154

This is a long-running project that started as the proverbial need to scratch my own itch and then somehow evolved into a full-time job of the past 6 years. Link: https://bvckup2.com I thought I'd do a Show HN for two reasons. 1. I obviously want to show my baby to those who haven't seen it. Its primary purpose is to do very fast file replication. If you are familiar with "robocopy /mir" - same idea, but on steroids. Lots of them. It can be used for both mirroring and archiving backups, among other things. It is light, very small and it is really quite fast. Half of the…

    Telescope, a news reader app2017 · ▲90

I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Please try it out and let me know what do you think, http://telescope.surf/ Note: you can do 'Add to Homescreen' on mobile to make it as an app. Please leave a feedback or any feature wishlist you may have. Thanks!
