FollowDev, HH-like forum exclusively for software dev-related topics
I'm not interested in politics or business, yet I somehow end up wasting time reading them here. That's why I've decided to create a Hacker News-like forum exclusively for software development-related topics. I find ranking to be unnecessary since i don't see more than 50-100 posts a day. I will add a comments feature once there are enough users. I hope FollowDev helps you discover new & unique content
FollowDev, HH-like forum exclusively for software dev-related topics launched on October 24, 2023 with 41 votes, #1,261 of 4,393 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.
In plain words
FollowDev is a forum dedicated exclusively to software development topics, modeled after Hacker News but without ranking systems. It serves developers seeking focused technical content without off-topic discussions about politics or business. Posts appear chronologically with a target volume of 50-100 daily submissions. The platform currently lacks a comments feature but plans to add it as the user base grows, aiming to help developers discover relevant and unique development-related content.

HN Follow lets you follow authors on Hacker News, and get email notifications when they post. It was inspired by alerthn.com and hnreplies.com. The app was built in an experimental style on Val Town. We’re trying to create a new web primitive that you can: 1. write like a function 2. run like a script 3. fork like a repo 4. install like an app This is our 5th iteration of this same “HN Follow” app. We launched the 3rd version here on Hacker News six months ago[1], but it was very kindly removed from the front page by dang in favor of us launching Val Town itself first, which we did in…
I asked an HN member for feedback and she blew my mind2010 · slideshare.net · ▲453A few days ago, I responded to a comment by bloggergirl offering to read anyone's web copy and help. I shot off an email hoping for a paragraph or two of feedback on my startup's copy. Instead I received a professional, detailed deck of tons of invaluable well thought out feedback. It must have taken her an entire afternoon. Here's a link to it: http://www.slideshare.net/shereefb/recommendations-for-bettermeans To top it off, this isn't someone with a lot of free time on her hands, she's only days away from launching her own startup (page99test) This community blows my mind!

Hi HN! I’ve been lurking for a while, but out of fear of being steamrolled by HN readers or maybe just natural introversion, I’ve always been too scared to post or comment. Which is why 1. this is my first real Hacker News submission 2. my friend Michael and I built "Fake" Hacker News, a place to post and see what AI-generated HN comments might say. Here’s a video of me using fakeHN to test this very submission: https://www.loom.com/share/4b9f4f9d7c77489a86baeb92ec55a1ed?... And an example of one of our generated posts:…
