In plain words

Font Shaming is a web tool that analyzes the typefaces used by top-performing Product Hunt startups. It reveals which fonts and font combinations are most popular among successful launches, identifying trends like heavy reliance on system fonts and Google Fonts, along with a long tail of misspelled entries. The analysis also highlights unusual practices such as websites using both Helvetica and Arial simultaneously, introducing the concept of "font shaming" to describe questionable typographic choices.

From the sources

We scraped the top hunts. Which fonts and font combinations do they use? Conclusions: * Lots of system fonts * Lots of Google Fonts * A long tail of the misspelled fonts * Shockingly, no Comic Sans! Finally, some websites use Helvetica and Arial on the same page which raises the question of *font shaming*, a term coined by @tylerlastovich

I've been looking for new fonts to use for a new project, but there weren't any great tools for seeing how a particular serif font for headers would look with another sans font for paragraph text, so I built a tool that lets you compare, adjust, and tinker with the way you'd use a font in your specific project before downloading it/setting it up. This is only using the free Google fonts for now. If there are other open-source fonts I should add, let me know and I'll add them!

Hi all, founder @ Retool here. We initially launched Retool on HN five years ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14515494. The feedback was extraordinarily helpful then (e.g. we launched source control, on-prem, etc. based on HN comments), and we’re grateful for all of it. Today, we’re excited to get HN’s thoughts on one of our new products: Retool Mobile. It lets you build and deploy mobile apps in minutes, not days. The idea is there is a large class of line-of-business mobile apps, and the process of getting a simple form + button on a mobile device, in a native app,…
