What it does
Reading is only half the battle - remembering is key. GinkgoNotes helps you retain important ideas. Build a lifelong knowledge base with minimum effort.
GinkgoNotes uses the FSRS spaced repetition algorithm to help you remember book, podcast, and article notes. Science-backed email & Telegram reviews — pay once, keep forever.
Save the ideas you love, and we’ll send them to you according to your forgetting curve. This helps you reread them at the right time, keeping them fresh in your mind. Spaced repetition is the best proven method to remember new information. That's why we built this app around it. Add anything from the wilderness. Suitable for podcast, book and article notes. We’ll calculate the best review times and send four sessions per note over the next months. Reviewing takes under 5 seconds and will boost your recall up to 90%. You can also hide the answer to practice recall then reveal it. We use the FSRS algorithm (the most accurate in the world). Modified to support fixed number of intervals (4)…from ginkgonotes.com

I combined spaced repetition with emails so you can remember anything2024 · ginkgonotes.com · ▲244Hey HN, I am a student shipping apps in my free time. This is my 4th for the year! Non-fic books and podcasts have been part of my life for years now but I always struggled with remembering what I’ve read or listened to. I wanted it to stick even after years. My notes list grew large but I never really revisited them. That’s why I created GinkgoNotes. That means you’ll get your notes emailed to you a couple of times exactly when you should read them again…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

21st.dev▲1,211I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
