In plain words

PageKite is a localhost tunneling service that makes it easy to expose local services to the web. It enables developers to use git's built-in HTTP functionality to clone and pull from repositories on their own machines without needing a central server like GitHub. By making a local git repository accessible through PageKite, users can share code directly from their workstation or laptop over the internet, leveraging git's distributed nature for decentralized collaboration.

From the sources

Git is a fantastic distributed revision control system for source code and other text-based projects. At PageKite, we use it for everything... Although most projects use centralized source repositories like GitHub to publish and share git trees, that is not actually necessary, because git knows how to speak HTTP directly. Any live git repository can be cloned or pulled if it is made visible to the web - including the working tree on your workstation or laptop. PageKite of course makes it very easy to put anything on the web... What follows is a complete "hello world" example. Feel free to go through the steps and try them yourself! This should work on any machine with an active Internet…from pagekite.net

What works now: user signups, org creations, private/public repos, and importing GitHub repositories (both as read-only mirrors and full migrations). So basically, you can create, push and pull to a repo, but we don't have many features quite yet (issues, PRs, CI). What is a bit unique is: 1) we built it in Rust and 2) the website is a little odd. Its design is inspired by CLIs (e.g., fzf, broot, vim) instead of web apps, and as such, lacks some affordances that you might typically expect in favor of keyboard-driven instant navigations (we have the very ambitious goal of an FCP of…
