Greendot

Stay green on Slack & Teams

What it does

A tiny macOS menu bar app that keeps your availability dot green when you're working, and steps out of the way when you're not. No fake activity during calls. No mouse jiggling theater.

You step away to think. Slack puts a moon on you. Teams calls you idle. Discord says you ghosted. Greendot keeps your dot green while you're gone — and has the good sense to clock out at night, so you don't end up suspiciously green at 1 AM. Some of your best work happens away from the keyboard — reading, walking, sketching, staring at a wall. The dot doesn't know that. Greendot keeps it green so the next 1:1 is about your output, not about why you went yellow on a Wednesday afternoon. Dumb mouse-movers keep wiggling while you're presenting. Cursor jitters mid-demo. Cursor jumps during the Zoom. Greendot watches your mic and camera, so the moment you're on a call it shuts up — and nobody…from greendot.pego.dev

  • Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

  • Hey we are Computable. We spent years building trading infrastructure at Jump Trading and Coinbase. From that point of view, compute looks like energy markets before 2000: everything trades through private bilateral leases, there’s no visible price, and nothing can be resold. The same H100 rents at a 2x spread depending on who’s asking, and once you sign a 24-month lease, it can never change hands. So we built a market for GPU nodes, sold by the calendar week. Here are three things you can do on it that you can’t do anywhere else: - Buy exactly the weeks you need. Three nodes for the last…

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
