HabitCrush

I built an iOS app called HabitCrush to help me (and hopefully others) quit bad habits (like procrastination, porn, junk food, or over-eating..) It is like an inverse habit tracker. The idea is simple: name the bad habit, and every day you say no to the bad habit you get the satisfaction of “crushing” it in app. As a Bonus, each day you succeed, you get a unique gemstone as a small symbol of progress. The gemstone is computed on the day timestamp so it is unique and never comes back. Would love feedback especially on the approach and whether the daily gemstone mechanic feels useful or…

What it does

Everyone has that one bad habit. Pick yours (smoking, junk food, porn, vaping, doomscrolling) and declare war on it! Every day you say no, you get to crush it in the app and move one step closer to freedom.

Take back control of your daily choices, reduce stress, and create lasting balance in your life.

Select the bad habit that's been holding you back, so you can take the first step toward freedom and balance. Bad habits don’t control you anymore. Daily choose to crush bad habits and earn unique cut gemstones every day. Symbols of your progress and freedom you are earning. Imagine feeling calmer, lighter, and more focused. Crush the habits that weigh you down and replace them with balance and clarity. Quitting bad habits means waking up with more energy, sharper focus, and a healthier mind and body. Start each day with strength andfrom habitcrush.app

Hello. I was looking for a simple and clean habit tracker. I went through a few apps but felt they were missing something. I also had some time on my hands, so decided to make my own and share it in case anyone else likes it. Some of the supported features: Streaks based, track and beat your longest streaks Fully useable offline Freezes (similar to Duolingo's streak freezes) Visual map for tracking consistency Pause the app when you need a break or will be away For anyone curious about the tech stack: - React for frontend - Dexie cloud for storage and syncing - Vercel for hosting Link:…

  • The site hit #1 on HN about a year ago. Got enough traffic that I turned it into a proper API. What's there: - REST API — 35k products, manually filterable by category, free key, 60 req/min - CLI — npx anycrap random -c food - faker.js plugin — bundled, no API call, works offline - HuggingFace dataset — full 35k rows for ML/training https://anycrap.shop/developers

  • I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

Years ago I stumbled across a basic version of this concept and it stuck with me. I knew if I was ever going to take on such a project, it would need to be flawless, but without coding experience it was just another idea that would never happen. By the end of 2024, as AI coding tools exploded everywhere, I finally had a way to make it real. I started from zero knowledge and spent months collaborating with AI agents as a learning experience. Every pixel and every function went through me. The AI translated what I asked for into code, but every decision was human. I didn't use existing OS…
