Hares.io

Track hosting providers IP addresses for crawlers and bots

Hares.io launched on August 19, 2017 with 9 votes, #1,002 of 3,214 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.

What it does

Hares.io is a service that detects if a certain IP address belongs to a hosting provider or not. Requests are usually sent from a hosting provider (not always) , could belong to some crawlers from your competitors who like to spy on your business, some bots that collect information of your content or even for some VPN providers. By using Hares.io you can detect easily any unusual behavior from the logs of your platform. If you notice that a major number of requests are coming from Amazon Web Services servers for example or any other hosting provider, then you can take the necessary steps towards those IPs (obviously blocking them) . Most of the people usually subscribe to some VPN providers…from hares.io

Since the last Show HN 7 months ago, I've shipped some major updates: • Operators Directory – browse 160+ crawlers by company (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). See all their bots, safety stats, and official docs in one place. • Enhanced crawler profiles with "Blocking Impact" analysis and common use cases • Added 25+ new AI crawlers including latest models and scrapers • Bulk robots.txt generator – generate allow/block rules for all filtered bots in one click • RFC 9309 strict compliance – mimics Googlebot's exact "Longest Match" logic The tool now helps answer "who owns CCBot?" or…

Hello HackerNews! I would like to invite you to test drive a project I've been working on for qute a while: https://seobots.io This is the long awaited (by myself) release of a concept that I have first presented a few years back. The initial idea was to create a platform capable of hosting small scripts which I constantly make for work and grating everyone access to them, without the need for downloading anything from github or console knowledge requirements. These scripts (aka "bots") can do all sorts of things, such as scraping, posting, parsing – you name it. If you are a…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
