hypequery

The type-safe analytics backend for ClickHouse

What it does

ClickHouse is powering analytics at Cloudflare, PostHog, and hundreds of fast-growing teams but the TypeScript developer experience has always been an afterthought. No type safety. No autocomplete. Just raw SQL strings and manual casting. hypequery fixes that. It's a TypeScript-native query builder for ClickHouse with full schema type inference, typed results, and zero runtime overhead. The Drizzle for analytical databases.

    The TypeScript Semantic Layer for ClickHouseJun 2026 · github.com · ▲8

I've built a type-safe semantic layer in code, for ClickHouse. If you're building analytics off ClickHouse in TypeScript, I would love your feedback. With hypequery there is no platform to adopt, no YAML sprawl. It runs where your app runs. Key features: - Define metrics once, reuse them everywhere: Declare dimensions and measures in one place and then pull from the same source of truth. - Compiles to ClickHouse SQL: No service, no proxy, no extra runtime to deploy. It's a library that generates SQL and runs where your app runs. - Multi-tenancy & Authentication ready: Cross-tenant queries…

    ClickStack – Open-source Datadog alternative by ClickHouse and HyperDX2025 · github.com · ▲241

Hey HN! Mike & Warren here from HyperDX (now part of ClickHouse)! We’ve been building ClickStack, an open source observability stack that helps you collect, centralize, search/viz/alert on your telemetry (logs, metrics, traces) in just a few minutes - all powered by ClickHouse (Apache2) for storage, HyperDX (MIT) for visualization and OpenTelemetry (Apache2) for ingestion. You can check out the quick start for spinning things up in the repo here: https://github.com/hyperdxio/hyperdx ClickStack makes it really easy to instrument your application so you can go…

    ClickHouse-local – a small tool for serverless data analytics2023 · clickhouse.com · ▲289

Me with my friend Vitaly Ludvichenko made an experiment to combine ClickHouse server and client to make a self-contained program running a database engine and processing data without a server: https://github.com/ClickHouse/ClickHouse/pull/150 Development continued in the past 6 years, and now clickhouse-local becomes a swiss-army knife for data processing. Say "ffmpeg" for datasets and more. It can resemble textql, octosql, dsq, duckdb, trdsql, q, datafusion-cli, spyql, but has better capabilities and performance. Here is a tutorial:…

    Pg-typesafe – Strongly typed queries for PostgreSQL and TypeScriptFeb 2026 · github.com · ▲69

Throughout my career, I tried many tools to query PostgreSQL, and in the end, concluded that for what I do, the simplest is almost always the best: raw SQL queries. Until now, I typed the results manually and relied on tests to catch problems. While this is OK in e.g., GoLang, it is quite annoying in TypeScript. First, because of the more powerful type system (it's easier to guess that updated_at is a date than it is to guess whether it's nullable or not), second, because of idiosyncrasies (INT4s are deserialised as JS numbers, but INT8s are deserialised as strings). So I wrote pg-typesafe,…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
