Hyper-Emotional AI Voice Acting for Anime and Movies
Hi HN, I’m using AI video generation to create anime and movies, but AI dubbing has been a major challenge. Most AI voices sound too flat and lack the emotional depth needed for voice acting, where dramatic expression is very important. That’s why I’m building this voice acting AI that lets you not only choose a voice but also control its emotion. In the Auto Emotion mode, you can include emotion hints in parenthesis to guide the speech generation. It’s still an early demo, but I’d love for you to try it out and share your feedback!

- IRInfinity – Realistic AI characters that can speak2024 · ▲481
Hey HN, this is Lina, Andrew, and Sidney from Infinity AI (https://infinity.ai/). We've trained our own foundation video model focused on people. As far as we know, this is the first time someone has trained a video diffusion transformer that’s driven by audio input. This is cool because it allows for expressive, realistic-looking characters that actually speak. Here’s a blog with a bunch of examples: https://toinfinityai.github.io/v2-launch-page/ If you want to try it out, you can either (1) go to https://studio.infinity.ai/try-inf2, or (2)…
- ADAI dub tool I made to watch foreign language videos with my 7-year-old2024 · speakz.ai · ▲348
Hey HN! I love watching YouTube with my 7-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, the best stuff is often in English (we're German). So I made an AI tool that translates videos directly, using the original voices. All other sounds, as well as background music, are preserved, too. Turns out that it works for many other language pairs, too. So far, it can create dubs in English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, French, Russian, German, Italian, Korean, Polish and Dutch. The main challenge in building this was to get the balance right between translating the original meaning and getting the timing…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

- TITetris in a PDF▲1,289
I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…
