I built a 2FA token from a Gameboy clone launched on August 30, 2018 with 7 votes, #1,052 of 2,619 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 8 years on.

What it does

Okta has a great multi-factor authentication (MFA) service that you can use right away with a free developer account . It provides additional security by requiring a second factor after authentication and supports a variety of factor types including SMS, soft tokens like Google Authenticator, hard tokens like Yubikey and the Okta Verify soft token with push notification. Google Authenticator and Okta Verify are a type of factor called time-based one-time password (TOTP) tokens. They use an algorithm based on a shared secret and a system clock with a high degree of precision.
