I Debian-packaged my Wiki Server

Privacy-Friendly Knowledge Management Tool

I Debian-packaged my Wiki Server launched on July 6, 2021 with 14 votes, #1,287 of 3,502 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 5 years on.

In plain words

This project involves packaging a personal wiki server as a Debian package, making it easier to install and manage on Debian-based Linux systems. It is intended for users who want to run their own wiki locally or on a server. The work demonstrates how to properly distribute software through Debian's package management system, allowing others to deploy the wiki with standard Linux package tools rather than manual setup.

I'm a software engineer who keeps getting pulled into DevOps no matter how hard I try to escape it. I recently moved into a Lead DevOps Engineer role writing tooling to automate a lot of the pain away. On my own time outside of work, I built Artifact Keeper — a self-hosted artifact registry that supports 45+ package formats. Security scanning, SSO, replication, WASM plugins — it's all in the MIT-licensed release. No enterprise tier. No feature gates. No surprise invoices. Your package managers — pip, npm, docker, cargo, helm, go, all of them — talk directly to it using their native…
