What it does
You pick a tier — $9, $19, or $49. You enter someone’s email. You pay. They receive a beautifully designed email informing them that you spent that exact amount on this email instead of on them. The $49 email spends three paragraphs explaining in detail what $49 could have bought them. It bought them none of those things. No certificate. No download. No gag box. Just an email. That’s the product. Built in a weekend by a graphic designer from Romania with zero dev background.

I had this idea rolling around in my head for the last couple of years, and I finally decided to build the damned thing just to get idea relief. The backend is a typical LAMP stack with the Symfony2 framework backing the P. Varnish sits in front of all the Chef managed Linode boxes. The site will work without Javascript (up until the checkout), and the style degrades really nicely depending on your viewport (try it out by resizing your browser). I’ve always found it funny how simple feedback widgets end up as $20–$30/month products. The tech is dead simple, infra is cheap, and most of us here could rebuild one in a weekend. So as a “principle experiment” I built my own today as a side project and priced it at 1 dollar. Just because if something is cheap to run and easy to replicate, it should be priced accordingly, and it’s also fun marketing. 1$ feedback tool. Shipped today, got the first users/moneys today, writing this post today. Side Sunday project, then back to the main product tomorrow.
