InfiniDesk

InfiniDesk brings multiple virtual desktops to your Mac. Instead of having a single cluttered desktop, make many desktops each with their own layout of file/folder icons, wallpaper and widget visibility. Have a desktop for Work, one for interesting Hacker News links, a fully empty desktop etc. Version 3 of the app (just released) now supports hotkeys to switch desktops in a blink, and also onscreen HUD notifications. Inspired by the Unix Common Desktop Environment of the 1990s, InfiniDesk is the only app that brings multiple desktops (workspaces/identities) to your Mac.

InfiniDesk launched on July 16, 2025 with 90 votes, #474 of 9,223 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

InfiniDesk lets you switch between project-specific desktops on your Mac, each showing different folders, files, and shortcuts. File-safe and private, it runs as a lightweight app in your Mac menu bar.

InfiniDesk helps Mac users organize multiple desktops by project. Set separate wallpapers, manage files per workspace, and integrate with Mission Control for a clutter-free, productive desktop.

This site requires JavaScript to be enabled to work correctly. Enable JavaScript in your browser settings and refresh this page before proceeding. InfiniDesk effectively lets you have multiple Desktop folders , and to switch which one is visually displayed as your desktop. Instead of a single desktop cluttered with icons, create completely separate desktops for each of your current projects or tasks (the best feature that Apple never built).
