Jinear

Hi HN, Two years ago, I started building Jinear as a side project for fun. Then my wife started using it to plan her PhD thesis. I added features as we needed them. After a while, my best friend started using it in his small company, so I thought maybe I could productize it. You can create tasks, set reminders, attach files, link your Google Calendar, etc. It can be used as a PWA. We've been using it daily. I would be happy to receive your feedback. Thanks.

Jinear launched on May 26, 2025 with 192 votes, #178 of 7,905 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Self-hostable, privacy-friendly productivity tool. Jinear is a project management and calendar app for small teams or individuals who prefer to self-host. Originally built for personal use, it's now open source and ready for anyone to use or customize.

Open-source, self-hostable tasks, calendar, notes and file sharing for indie devs and small teams. Install with Docker Compose. No per-user pricing.

Jinear keeps tasks, boards, a calendar, notes and files in one place. Use the hosted version, or run it yourself with Docker. I build and maintain Jinear on my own, no team, no company behind it. I use it every day for my own work, which is why it exists and why it keeps getting worked on. If you run into trouble self-hosting, have a question, or want to suggest something, just email me. I read and reply to everything myself. I don't use your email for marketing or auto reply using AI. I'd love to hear from you. And if you've already got Jinear running somewhere, say hello. Self-hosted instances phone nothing home, not even install counts, so there's no dashboard on my end lighting up when…from jinear.co

Hi HN, I’m the founder of Zesfy, a productivity app that I’ve been developing over the past few years. It’s designed to seamlessly integrate your tasks with your calendar, allowing you to transform your to-do lists into actionable events in just seconds. Here are some of its key features: - Task Progress: Automatically update your progress based on subtasks completed - Step: Create step-by-step breakdown of the subtask - Target: Organize tasks with due date - Session: Insert multiple tasks to calendar event - Space: Filter event from specific sets of calendars I recently introduced new…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

We built Tapflow for devs, designers, PMs, and tech folks who’ve been sitting on internal docs, templates, and systems — but never productized them. Upload a PDF, notes, or workshop deck, and Tapflow drafts a structured product (with chapters, teaser and pricing plans). It’s good for AI kits, onboarding guides, design systems, and frameworks. You can sell through Stripe, LemonSqueezy, or PayPal. Real-time collaboration is in early beta. No site builder, no LMS — clean design and just focused tools to ship.
