What it does

KeyKey Typing Tutor for my experience is the best and smartest typing tutor available on the Mac today. It's a new comer on the market but, having tested many of them, I could not recommend it enough. The engine adapts immediately to my strengths and weakness and the live statistics are incredibly clear and motivate me a lot.

A modern Mac typing tutor: a guided touch-typing course, practice in 21 languages and 48 layouts (Dvorak, Colemak), your own books, per-key stats. Free download.

Mochi Type is a typing trainer for Mac with two ways in: a guided course that builds your touch typing from the very first key, and practice on the real words or texts you actually use. A Learn-course session — real words, finger hints on the on-screen keyboard. The course is 16 bite-size stages plus a Final Test, each stage adding a few new keys. Every stage is built from the most frequent words of your language that use only the keys you already know — so you type real vocabulary from the first minutes, not abstract drills. Most trainers drill one key at a time — press j , press f , repeat. Mochi starts with the four most frequent letters of your language and immediately builds real words…from orsolabs.dev

Over the last couple of months I have designed and written Keys, a Mac application the helps learning typing and that is supposed to meet Mac users standards for a well-designed application. My goal is to become a micro-ISV or indie developer. The app is only in the Mac app store for now (no trial yet), since end of May, and I have been busy putting together a website and a personal blog since. I would be very interested what the HN community thinks about the application, how you like it, and how it is presented, from a business angle. Prior to this project, I have done much more work on…
