What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

UPDATE 04-18-2020 Due to a copyright issue I had to rename the website from BookBites to Knaqq.I am actively working on replacing all the places where I used BookBites with Knaqq. Sorry for any confusion it might create Hello My name is Charles and I have created Knaqq. Knaqq is a free library of visual educational mini books The mini book format is well known on social media especially Instagram as a quick way for educational content creators to share bitsized tutorials on their subjects of expertise so I thought it would cool to create a platform that could aggregate content from those creators and allow anybody to quickly find something to learn. Creators can also submit their mini books to the website by creating an account and applying for the creator permission. Mini books are organised by categories and authors making it easy for users to quickly find content on their desired subjects. Users can also add mini books to their favorites for quick access later. Right now I am aggregating content related to UI / UX Design, Business and Fitness but I am confident that this short form of education can be used for more than that (Personal finance, investing, health, yoga, etc) If you want to check it out or give some feedback here's the link: https://Knaqq.app/?ref=hackernews If you have a category in mind that you think would be a great addition to Knaqq please let me know and I will do my best to find content in that category. If you also create mini books don't hesitate to let me know by email [email protected] or by applying for a creator account using this form: https://forms.gle/A5ZwarpLAUCumb4SA Thank you :) https://Knaqq.app/?ref=hackernews

    Learnawesome.org – Open-source learning map for humanity2020 · ▲216

Hello HN, Over the last 12 months, I have been building https://learnawesome.org This idea came from Danny Hillis' 2012 talk at OSCON, which itself was inspired from Neal Stepehenson's _The Diamond Age : A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer_ The dream is to build a tool that matches the right learning material to the right student at the right time. Wikipedia is great, but it doesn't do a good job of leveraging the rich variety of learning resources that exist on the Web. Same applies to GoodReads - which is focused only on books, whereas these days we actually learn from videos,…

    Self-Published Book – “Data Science in Production”2020 · ▲172

Hi HN, Over the past 6 months I've been working on a technical book focused on helping aspiring data scientists to get hands-on experience with cloud computing environments using the Python ecosystem. The book is targeted at readers already familiar with libraries such as Pandas and scikit-learn that are looking to build out a portfolio of applied projects. To author the book, I used the Leanpub platform to provide drafts of the text as I completed each chapter. To typeset the book, I used the R bookdown package by Yihui Xie to translate my markdown into a PDF format. I also used Google docs…

    Practical Python Projects book release2021 · practicalpython.yasoob.me · ▲88

Hi everyone! I just released the Practical Python Projects book! (https://practicalpython.yasoob.me) I am happy to announce the first version as a release candidate. I have poured a lot of love into writing this book and would love to hear what you guys think. (A limited 100% off and discount coupons at the end) This is not a pure beginner book. The book does assume some background Python knowledge. You need to know the basics like methods, functions, classes, and such. If I use something that is not typically covered in beginner Python books, I will explain it before I use it.…
