LED AppBar

What it does

LED AppBar pins a scrolling LED dot-matrix ticker to the very top edge of your Windows desktop — not as a floating window, but as a real Windows AppBar via SHAppBarMessage. That means maximized windows respect the bar's space instead of overlapping it, exactly like the taskbar. Point it at any URL: RSS news, clocks, Twitch chat, scrolling illustrations, whatever renders in a browser. Built with Tauri (Rust + WebView2). Multi-monitor support, auto-hides on fullscreen, ~4 MB installer.

A scrolling LED dot-matrix ticker that lives at the top of your Windows desktop.

A tiny electronic billboard that lives at the top of your Windows desktop. LED AppBar is a Windows utility that pins a scrolling LED dot-matrix display to the top edge of your screen — like a miniature stadium scoreboard, except it shows your RSS feeds, your news, or literally any web page you point it at. It's not just an "always-on-top window." It uses the real Windows AppBar API — the same mechanism the taskbar uses — so when you maximize a window, the window respects the bar's space instead of overlapping it. Your workflow stays clean. The bar just exists, quietly, at the top. Out of the box, the bar shows the LED News Ticker widget -- a browser-based scrolling ticker…from bunnyyears.itch.io

  Talanoa▲346

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  I built a frontpage for personal blogs▲783

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
