Lifeclocc: A PCB Desk Clock
Your personal life countdown & motivational companion
Lifeclocc: A PCB Desk Clock launched on January 28, 2020 with 6 votes, #1,102 of 3,486 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 6 years on.
What it does
A desk clock that counts the number of seconds you have left to live. You can use it as a source of motivation, an anti-procrastination device, or just a conversation starter. It runs the arduino platform, is hackable and the code is open source.
Your life is finite. Make every second count.
Ever wanted to know how many seconds you have left on this planet? Have you needed motivation to get out of a slump? What if you could literally see your seconds ticking away in front of you? It's a teensy powered device with 10 digits that counts down the seconds you have to live. You just have to set your birthday and the current time. Of course assumptions are made about your lifespan but frankly, do you really think you'd have this till the day you die? That's great! It's open source and you're encouraged to tinker with the code. This is the coolest thing I've ever made. 10/10 would make again. Why do we really do anything? I thought it would be fun to do. (Spoiler: It was.) Check out…from lifeclo.cc

When I started out as an Engineering Manager many years ago, I found that there wasn't a huge amount of material that specifically and practically helped me understand how to do my job. When you learn to program there's all of these amazing tutorials, examples and guides, but what was there for new managers?
