LineGuard

Required fields and workflow rules for Linear

Visit lineguard.appAlternativestop 11% of September 2026

What it does

Linear will happily let an issue reach Done with no estimate, no label and no owner — and then your cycle metrics quietly lie to you. LineGuard adds the rule layer Linear doesn't have. Pick a trigger (enters Done, leaves Triage), add conditions, and it reverts the change with a comment explaining what's missing. Nine one-click presets, so the first rule takes about a minute. Pricing is flat per workspace — never per seat, so the bill doesn't grow when you hire. Free tier, no card.

Keep your Linear board honest: required fields, valid status transitions, and a definition of done — enforced the moment an issue changes, and recorded.

Linear won't stop an issue moving to Done with no estimate. LineGuard will — and keeps the record of every time it did. Five trigger types — enters a state, leaves a state, a field changes, issue created, any update. Every action's outcome is written to the audit log — including the ones Linear rejects. No code, no polling — LineGuard reacts to Linear in real time. Pick a team, a trigger (e.g. "moved to Done"), and a condition (e.g. "Estimate is empty"). Built visually, no code. The moment someone updates an issue, the webhook fires and every active rule is evaluated instantly. If a rule is broken, LineGuard reverts the issue and leaves a comment explaining exactly what's missing — then…from lineguard.app

  • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up.
