Lock Status for Mac

See if your Mac is locked, from your iPhone

Visit lockstatus.appAlternativestop 10% of September 2026

What it does

You left your desk and can't remember if you locked your Mac. Lock Status answers that from your iPhone. A free menu-bar helper reports locked, unlocked, or asleep. The iPhone app and its Home and Lock Screen widgets read it back. No account, no servers — status travels through your own private iCloud. Nothing for us to see. What's different: it never fakes confidence. Every reading carries when we last heard from it. Lose contact and it says "Locked · 12m ago", not a reassuring lie.

Glance at your iPhone to see whether your Mac is locked, unlocked, or asleep. A free Mac menu-bar app syncs its status through your own private iCloud.

Glance at your iPhone — Home Screen, Lock Screen, or the app — and know instantly whether each Mac is locked, unlocked, or asleep. No account to create, nothing on our servers, nothing we can see. Just your Macs, on your own iCloud. Signed & notarized, Gatekeeper-approved — installs cleanly on any Mac. Syncs only through your own iCloud. We have no access to your data — ever. No sign-up, no email, no tracking. Nothing to leak because nothing is collected. Run the free helper on each Mac and they all appear — each with its own live status. Home & Lock Screen widgets show each Mac's status without opening a thing. The Mac app is free. The iPhone app is a free companion — Pro is optional. A…from lockstatus.app

 • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

 • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up. One…
