What it does

Watch notes fall to your keyboard and play along when they land. Slow a song down, loop a tricky section, or practice each hand separately. Paste a link to any piano video and lumikey downloads it and transcribes it on your computer. Drop in an audio file and it does the same. Over 40 classics are already loaded to get you started. Connect a keyboard over USB or Bluetooth and lumikey knows exactly which key you pressed. Or just use your microphone and it listens to your piano instead, acoustic or digital. Either way, lumikey always knows when you've played the chord. Every note is color-coordinated by hand, with a small badge suggesting each finger.   I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
