MЯO (ORM backwards) write SQL then generate its host-language wrapper

Extension for Visual Studio - Frictionless data access for C# projects

In plain words

QueryFirst is a Visual Studio extension for C# developers that automates the creation of database access code. Users write SQL queries in .sql files, and the extension automatically generates type-safe C# wrapper classes and interfaces with methods like Execute() and ExecuteScalar(). This eliminates manual coding of data access layers and keeps SQL queries separate from application code, streamlining database interaction in C# projects.

From the sources

The QueryFirst extension for visual studio generates a C# wrapper for your .sql files. The documentation is on queryfirst.net . To use QueryFirst, install the extension, then use the QueryFirst .sql template under Add => New item => Visual C# Items Query-first is a visual studio extension for working intelligently with SQL in C# projects. Use the provided .sql template to develop your queries. When you save the file, Query-first runs your query, retrieves the schema and generates two classes and an interface: a wrapper class with methods Execute(), ExecuteScalar(), ExecuteNonQuery() etc, its corresponding interface, and a POCO encapsulating a line of results. As such, your query stays…from marketplace.visualstudio.com

The project is called QueryStorm. It uses Roslyn to offer C# (and VB.NET) support in Excel, as an alternative to VBA. I've posted about it before, but a lot has changed since then so figured I'd share an update. The current version includes a host of new features, namely a C# debugger, support for NuGet packages, and the ability to publish Excel extensions to an "AppStore" (which is essentially a NuGet repository). The AppStore can be used by anyone with the (free) runtime component. Another great addition is the community license, which is a free license for individuals and small companies…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
