Magit is a text-based interface for Git that presents information in a status buffer where users can interact with content directly using keyboard shortcuts instead of typing commands. Commands are triggered by pressing mnemonic key sequences that act on the element under the cursor. It's designed for developers who want a more interactive alternative to traditional command-line Git operations while maintaining a familiar text-based workflow.
