Mercury Edit 2
Ultra-fast next-edit prediction for coding
Mercury Edit 2 launched on April 4, 2026 with 171 votes, #177 of 21,248 launches that month and more than 99% of that year's launches.
What it does
Mercury Edit 2 is a coding-focused diffusion LLM built specifically for next-edit prediction. It uses your recent edits and codebase context to suggest the next change, with much higher acceptance and much lower latency than typical code-edit models.
A next-edit diffusion LLM built for the fastest parts of your coding workflow
Today we're introducing Mercury Edit 2: a purpose-built diffusion LLM (dLLM) for the most latency-sensitive component of modern development workflows: next-edit prediction. This model upgrades our previous next-edit model and complements our existing auto-complete endpoint. Using your recent edits and codebase context, Mercury Edit 2 predicts what you’ll change next. Because Mercury Edit 2 uses diffusion to generate tokens in parallel, predictions arrive fast enough to feel like part of your own thinking. Just Tab to accept. To train this model, we carefully curated a high quality dataset of edits across a broad range of languages and scenarios. These examples taught our model how to…from inceptionlabs.ai

Sweep, Open-weights 1.5B model for next-edit autocompleteJan 2026 · huggingface.co · ▲534Hey HN, we trained and open-sourced a 1.5B model that predicts your next edits, similar to Cursor. You can download the weights here (https://huggingface.co/sweepai/sweep-next-edit-1.5b) or try it in our JetBrains plugin (https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/26860-sweep-ai-autocomp...). Next-edit autocomplete differs from standard autocomplete by using your recent edits as context when predicting completions. The model is small enough to run locally while outperforming models 4x its size on both speed and accuracy. We tested against Mercury…

Wafer PassApr 2026 · wafer.ai · ▲116Hi HN, I’m Emilio. We’re launching the Wafer extension for the popular IDEs (VS Code, Cursor and Antigravity). Wafer exists to make performance engineers more efficient. Most of the work perf engs do is extracting signal and turning it into the next experiment. You spend hours per kernel doing interpretation and bookkeeping: which counters matter, what changed, what hypothesis you’re testing, what to try next. Wafer is building an environment where profiling, compiler analysis, and docs are first-class context in your workflow, so iteration is cheap. long-term, that same structured context…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
