Mitmproxy 1.0 released, now with a web interface launched on December 26, 2016 with 248 votes, #91 of 3,449 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.
In plain words
Mitmproxy is a tool for intercepting, inspecting, and modifying HTTP/HTTPS traffic. It allows developers and security professionals to monitor network communication between applications and servers, useful for debugging, testing, and analysis. Version 1.0 introduces a web interface alongside existing command-line tools, making the software more accessible to users who prefer graphical interaction over terminal-based workflows.

Six years after mitmproxy's first checkin, we've finally released version 1.0.0 of the project. Our version numbering persisted below 1.0 well into the project's maturity, for reasons that are a tad difficult to explain. My mental model of software development is of an eternal pilgrimage - the roadmap of possible improvements stretches on forever, and we never quite reach a point where we look back and feel that we've arrived. From this perspective, it makes sense for 1.0 to always be out of reach. Rather than adopting more transcendental options , I've stuck with simply incrementing the minor version with each release. This release sees two changes in our process. First, we're committing…from corte.si

Hi! I've been working on a child monitoring service and I'd really appreciate your input on it. The structure of the service is pretty technically interesting. It sets up a wireguard VPN on the child's Windows account, and then routes the traffic to our server. From there, we use mitmproxy to break open the TLS, inspect the packets, and then re-encrypt them. Currently all images are passed through an ImageNetV2 model, and for sites like reddit or google, individual links/communities are analyzed and we remove the content if it violates the filters without impacting the overall browsing…
