Most Used Repositories on GitHub

A free service that lets open-source maintainers showcase which projects depend on their library via a single embeddable image. No API key, no sign-up, no config.

Most Used Repositories on GitHub launched on October 11, 2019 with 9 votes, #976 of 3,363 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 7 years on.

What it does

Drop-in embeds that showcase your top dependents. No API key, no sign-up, no config. Add a snippet to your README and let the world see who depends on your library. Replace your-package with your npm package name. Scoped packages like @scope/package work too. Enter your package name, tweak the options, and preview the result in real time. Deploy as a Cloudflare Worker and handle the pipeline in a single request. Query GitHub to discover projects that list yours as a dependency. Fetch metadata for each dependent: repository, stars, last push, and avatar. Rank dependents by a composite score combining star count and recent activity. Generate a crisp SVG image on the fly with avatars, names,…from usedby.dev

It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
