My first ever e-book, Hacking Obamacare
This is my first-ever e-book, www.hackingobamacare.co I was lurking on HN for a while reading comments and suggestions on how to write one. Thank you to everyone and their deep knowledge on what does and doesn't work. I wrote hacking obamacare this because I kept seeing lots of my friends, family and loved ones struggling to figure out how to make the health care system work for them. I've been fortunate given that I've been working in the industry for nearly a decade and know where to look and who to talk to if I'm unsure about something. This e-book is by no means a comprehensive review of…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
This is my first-ever e-book, www.hackingobamacare.co I was lurking on HN for a while reading comments and suggestions on how to write one. Thank you to everyone and their deep knowledge on what does and doesn't work. I wrote hacking obamacare this because I kept seeing lots of my friends, family and loved ones struggling to figure out how to make the health care system work for them. I've been fortunate given that I've been working in the industry for nearly a decade and know where to look and who to talk to if I'm unsure about something. This e-book is by no means a comprehensive review of Obamacare and a commentary on its merits as a cure for a broken healthcare system. It's simply for 20-30 somethings who don't know about the health care system, who use the Internet and their phones for everything and want a leg up on everyone else. Hope you pick up a copy. Drop me a line at [email protected] to let me know what you think. I'd love any feedback. Oh and 25% of the proceeds go to organizations that make healthcare suck less.

HN, I've been mostly lurking, semi-active on HN for over 4 years. For most of that time, I've been working on my startup, Learndot. I have always wanted to do a "Show HN" post, but I never thought it was ready. We've now finally launched web signup and using a freemium business model. I feel I can now post and offer something to the community (a new app to try out) and hopefully get good quality feedback. Here's the site: http://www.learndot.com Would appreciate any or all thoughts: From pricing/positioning, to design/performance. The app is written in Sproutcore and backed by an API written…
- WLWayback Letter - Looking back at 5+ years of Hacker News2012 · ▲59
I just sent out my 100th issue of Hacker Newsletter and announced my newest newsletter: Wayback Letter - http://www.waybackletter.com/ In either a daily or weekly version, you'll get links to great HN articles from the past five years. A great way to see how HN has grown and changed, plus see what was going on at different times. Lastly, there are a ton of great reads to learn from that I never saw the first go around. Would love to get feedback and my goal is to expand this past HN in the future.
- EMExperimental Mac app for reading HN2011 · ▲20
Yesterday I decided I wanted to experiment with different ways of reading HN. After considering a few options, I settled on a Mac app and spent a couple of hours planning/sketching on paper. This morning I fired up Xcode and spent 4 hours hacking away and I must say I'm liking how it's looking. Since the project is in its very early stages, I though that it could be a very good time to get some feedback. I've posted a few screenshots at http://imgur.com/a/rCbVN and uploaded a binary at http://abra.rm-fr.net/~fiam/HackerNews.zip If you have some free time, give a try and let me know what you…
- HNhackerByte - Newsletter for Start-up Folks (A weekend Project)2011 · ▲21
Friends, Romans, HNers! Link: http://hackerbyte.com This is my first “weekend project” and it was really fun doing it. The sleepless weekends nights when all my friends were our partying or something we (me and two friends) were busy creating ‘hackerByte’ - a weekly newsletter to share inspiration with start-up people. Nothing fancy - just we’d like to share some really nice stuff we read and some news with you, every week. We know that newsletters like these already exist so why one more? Because we are not really satisfied with what they are doing and here is our version of the wheel. We…
- HNHacker News clone for books2015 · ▲10
I love books! I had once come across a great list of book recommendations on the LessWrong website ("The Best Textbooks on Every Subject"). But when I had stumbled upon the list a couple of years ago the last comments and recommendations on it were from 2011. And similarly I found that most recommendations on the web suffer from this form of time decay. What I wanted was a site that had high quality recommendations similar to the LessWrong list that would feel fresh and current. Amazon was overwhelming for me since it has a gazillion books on each subject and the "Thanks! Arrived in good…
- IMI'm 66 and created a negative-pressure dental clinic to combat Covid192020 · ▲13
Hello everyone, My son loves Hacker News, so I am using his account. I love innovation and technology. With the restrictions due to Coronavirus from practicing in my clinic. I created a system that replaces the air in my office in 20 seconds. Those vacuums are also filled with UV-rods inside to kill any viruses. The air is release below the office in a 2-3 foot basement, which is also filled with UV rods. https://youtu.be/UfYt1w156QA https://youtu.be/UpO8WXOlgcQ (side-by-side) Given how much my son enjoys Hacker News I thought you would all enjoy it.
