Namegator

I built a simple tool that suggests good domain names based on your idea — something I usually spend way too long on myself. It’s completely free, no sign-up needed, and you can get unlimited suggestions. Mainly built it for myself, but I’d love to hear your feedback and any tips for improvement! :)

Namegator launched on April 5, 2026 with 8 votes, #1,409 of 21,248 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.

NameGator is a free AI business name generator that turns a short description of your business into brandable name ideas and checks domain availability, .com, .co, .io, and .ai, in real time. No signup. It's built for founders, freelancers, and small businesses who want to get from a blank page to a registrable shortlist in a couple of minutes. Naming a business is one of those decisions that feels bigger the longer you sit with it. Tell NameGator a word or two about what you do, and you'll get a batch of name ideas to react to, some you'll dismiss in a second, one or two might stick. Either way, it beats staring at a blank page. Found one you like? Check the domain right here before you…from namegator.net

In my exploration of OpenAI, I just created a domain-name search that takes business description as an input, and generates interesting domain names for it. It then uses DNSimple API to check if .com is available. In my view it is a much easier way to find a suitable domain, as the AI thinks of a much large pool of possible names than my own brain. SmartyNames found its own name, using the tool itself. Hope you enjoy it! https://smartynames.com/

  • With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
