Periplus

I've been building this for a few months now, started because I was frustrated with how I learn using LLMs. You get a wall of text that vanishes into chat history. Wikipedia's the opposite: endless rabbit holes without structure. I wanted something in between. Periplus generates courses as connected markdown documents, tailored to your level. It asks a few questions upfront, builds a syllabus, and each concept links to related ones. Click a term you don't understand and it opens a new document side-by-side. Heavy inspiration from Obsidian - the graph view is similar, and there's an Obsidian…

Periplus launched on July 1, 2025 with 20 votes, #764 of 9,223 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Periplus is an AI learning environment, allowing you to learn directly from LLMs. You can learn anything through AI generated courses and documents, while automatically generated AI flashcards help you remember.

Turn curiosity into knowledge. Periplus builds personalized AI courses, documents, quizzes, and flashcards on any topic. Free to start.

Start with any topic, question, or PDF. Periplus creates a structured course with connected explanations, quizzes, and flashcards. Every document links onward. Open documents side by side, follow the graph, and see how ideas connect. Generate a full course on any topic as a structured learning path. Each node comprises complete documents: read, branch, go deeper. Everything you explore is kept and organized for you. Search it, categorize it, come back to it anytime. Any document becomes quizzes and flashcards. Spaced repetition keeps what you learn from fading. Every document links to related topics. Follow what interests you Documents come alive through maps, math, flashcards and quizzes.…from periplus.app

    How LLMs Work – Interactive visual guide based on Karpathy's lectureApr 2026 · ynarwal.github.io · ▲245

All content is based on Andrej Karpathy's "Intro to Large Language Models" lecture (youtube.com/watch?v=7xTGNNLPyMI). I downloaded the transcript and used Claude Code to generate the entire interactive site from it — single HTML file. I find it useful to revisit this content time to time.

A little idea I got from playing with AI SWE Agents. Can AI help make sure we understand the code that our AIs write? PR Quiz uses AI to generate a quiz from a pull request and blocks you from merging until the quiz is passed. You can configure various options like the LLM model to use, max number of attempts to pass the quiz or min diff size to generate a quiz for. I found that the reasoning models, while more expensive, generated better questions from my limited testing. Privacy: This GitHub Action runs a local webserver and uses ngrok to serve the quiz through a temporary url. Your code…

An exciting aspect of what I'm working on is that users can create their own playlists. For example, you can provide an outline of what you're learning, such as notes from your professor or any other structure, and the pipeline will create a course tailored to that. Since the content is highly customized, it will be relevant and high-quality, matching current lessons or lectures in school or university. Initially, the pipeline also generated some teaching content using AI, but due to the risk of AI hallucinations, I'm planning to pivot away from that. The new focus will be on curating…

  • Hey HN! Introducing Trickle Magic Canvas: the world’s first Agentic Canvas, where you can visually co-create apps and websites with AI, from idea to production. Why is a canvas better? Most AI tools today rely on linear chats or text prompts. We believe that limits creativity and clarity. Canvas changes the game. 1. Every version & page at a glance. Each page and sub-page lives on a timeline. You can quickly browse, edit, and preview progress like a living, visual document — no more digging through chat logs or scattered states. 2. The canvas is the context. Unlike linear chats, you can…

  • Today marks ten years, 3653 consecutive days, of running at least one mile every day under the USRSA rules [1]. To celebrate, I built an interactive dashboard that turns a decade of GPX files into charts you can explore. Running has truly changed my life: I've made lifelong friends, explored beautiful places, and more importantly invested into my own health and fitness, which I'm starting to see the positive benefits as I get older. The stack is pretty simple: a NextJS app, with a Postgres database to keep all my running data, and all the stats are pre-computed and cached in Redis, so I…

  • Made this website as an exercise in vibe-coding and GCP. It was posted about a few times around the internet, on sites like Morning Brew (https://www.morningbrew.com/issues/business-buzzkill), MetaFilter (https://www.metafilter.com/209703/Draw-A-Fish), boingboing.net, etc. I think it's cute! I built a basic CNN trained against penises and swastikas, and then anything that doesn't hit the 63% confidence score gets sent to a mod queue, a vibe-coded fish-tinder…

  • Hi HN - I made a site that takes a UK postcode, grabs the local MP's information and generates an AI mockup of what their ID might look like. It's a small, silly protest at the stupidity of the Online Safety Act that just came into force. edit - My open AI credits got hugged to death, please use a known postcode (like one from Kier Starmer's constituency, WC2B6NH) in the meantime.
