PgHook – Docker image that streams PostgreSQL row changes to webhooks

I needed real-time updates in a web UI whenever PostgreSQL table rows change, so I built PgHook. It's a 23 MB Docker image (10.1 MB compressed), .NET9 AOT-compiled, that streams logical replication events and sends them to a configurable webhook. In my setup, the webhook converts events to SignalR messages that push updates to the UI. I know about Debezium but I needed something minimal, and I like playing with csharp.

In plain words

PgHook is a Docker image that captures PostgreSQL row changes using logical replication and streams them to a configurable webhook in real time. Built with .NET9 and compiled ahead-of-time, the image is 23 MB (10.1 MB compressed). It enables web applications to receive live database updates by forwarding replication events to webhooks, which can then trigger UI notifications or other actions. Designed as a minimal alternative to larger solutions.

PgHook listens to PostgreSQL logical replication events and posts changed row information as JSON to webhooks. - PgHookCom/PgHook

PgHook streams PostgreSQL change events (logical replication via PgOutput2Json ) and delivers them to a webhook . Distributed as a small-footprint 33.89 MB container image (13.38 MB compressed, AOT-compiled .NET 9, Alpine). wal_level = logical # If needed increase the number of WAL senders, replication slots. # The default is 10 for both. max_wal_senders = 10 max_replication_slots = 10 Other necessary settings usually have appropriate default values for a basic setup. Note: PostgreSQL must be restarted after modifying this setting. Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
