Pressure.js

3D and Force Touch JavaScript library for the web

Pressure.js launched on January 22, 2016 with 243 votes, #72 of 4,523 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 10 years on.

What it does

Pressure is a JavaScript library for handling Force Touch, 3D Touch, and Pointer Pressure on the web, bundled under one library with a simple API that makes working with them painless. Devices implement force differently from one another. Pressure has a simple to use API that works across all devices. It can be hard to know if a user is using a force sensitive device. With Pressure, you can determine supported and upsupported devices. Pressure will handle multiple fingers on the screen pushing with different amounts of force on different elements simultaneously. Don't have a force sensitive device? Not a problem, use the polyfill to use time as a replacement for force. The best part about…from pressurejs.com

It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
