Prexist
Hey HN I built Prexist, an AI-powered tool that helps founders, PMs, and VCs quickly find out if their startup idea already exists, across 8 major platforms like Product Hunt, YC, GitHub, Crunchbase, and the App Stores. Until recently, running searches across all these platforms in parallel took ~60 seconds. We’ve just integrated Exa AI for search orchestration, and it’s now 3× faster while returning more relevant, semantically matched results. What it does: - Uses AI to understand your product idea and generate smart search queries - Searches 8 discovery and innovation platforms…
Prexist launched on August 10, 2025 with 15 votes, #814 of 8,530 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
Validate your startup idea in seconds. Prexist searches 8 platforms like Product Hunt, Y Combinator, GitHub, Crunchbase & App Stores (iOS and Android) using AI to find similar products — all in one place. Save weeks on research and build smart. 🚀
Validate your product idea across multiple platforms in seconds.
Prexist scans the products that already exist, then returns direct evidence so you can focus on angle, differentiation, and execution. Be specific about the audience, workflow, and constraints. Better input gives more accurate market overlap. Minimal interface, high-information output. Every interaction is designed to move from vague idea to concrete market context in one pass. Understands the core product concept and breaks the idea into searchable dimensions. Searches startup, app, code, and web ecosystems where overlapping products actually appear. Groups results by platform so you can compare what exists and where the opportunity is. Reduces blind spots before investing time in design,…from prexist.pages.dev

As a founder, finding early customers is always a challenge. I'd come up with specific guesses for people to talk to - such "VCs that used to be startup founders" or "Former lawyers who are now CTOs." Running those types of searches typically involves opening dozens of LinkedIn profiles in tabs, and looking at them one-by-one. And, it turns out that going through LinkedIn profiles one-by-one is a daily job for many people. I started building Find AI to make it easier to search for people. I initially started just having GPT review people's LinkedIn profiles and websites, but it cost…
PreflightDec 2025 · preflightqa.xyz · ▲77Hey HN, I’m a product designer on a payments team. Every time we were close to shipping a feature, we’d run a bug bash in a giant Google doc or spreadsheet: copy the spec in, write the test cases, ask people to mark Pass/Fail, paste screenshots, then manually turn everything into Jira tickets. It worked, but it always felt a bit painful. Instead of another heavy test management tool, I wanted something that feels closer to the tools we actually like using. More Linear/Notion, less old-school QA. With Preflight, you paste your product requirements and Figma link and get an initial…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
