What it does

Writing a good prompt means juggling placeholders, formatting, variables, and rewrites — all in a tiny chat input box. PromptEditor gives you a proper side panel editor right in your browser. No tab-switching, no copy-pasting. Write, format, fill, share and send — all in one place.

PromptEditor is a free Chrome extension that adds a side panel editor to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity & Copilot. Fill placeholders, set global variables, find & replace, save an unlimited prompt history, share prompts via link, and send directly to any AI chat. No account needed.

One click sends any AI response to your side panel. Fill placeholders, reformat, rewrite — then send to any AI chat, share via link, or copy as clean Markdown. Unlimited history. No tab switching. PromptEditor stays out of your way until you need it. Then it's just a click away. A button appears below every AI response on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot. Click it and the side panel opens instantly with the text loaded in. Placeholders like [topic] and {variable} light up automatically. Click any one to replace it. Bold, italicise, add bullets — format visually, not in raw Markdown. Hit "Send to…" and your prompt lands directly in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or…from prompteditor.ties.digital

  I was working on a project that involved indexing GitHub repos that used really long prompts. Iterating over each section and figuring out which parts of the prompt led to which parts of the output was a quite painful. As a frontend dev, I kept thinking it would be nice if I could just 'inspect element' on particular sections of the prompt.
