ProxyHub

Tunnel, inspect & mock localhost - no backend needed

ProxyHub launched on April 22, 2026 with 10 votes, #1,251 of 21,248 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.

In plain words

ProxyHub is an open-source tool that exposes local servers to the internet via public HTTPS URLs without requiring backend infrastructure. It enables developers to inspect requests in real time, mock API endpoints, and test APIs using built-in tools like an API composer and request inspector. The self-hostable alternative to ngrok operates entirely through command line with no account needed, making it suitable for developers building and testing applications locally or in teams.

From the sources

ProxyHub is the open-source way to expose localhost, inspect every request in real time, and mock any endpoint, no account, no backend, just one npx command. Built-in API testing tool, cURL export, mock server, and self-hostable for teams.

Expose localhost to the internet — free, self-hostable ngrok alternative

Where 3000 is the port of your local server. Your local server is now accessible via a public HTTPS URL — that's it. Run proxyhub init and answer a few prompts — mode, port, token, and more. ProxyHub prints the equivalent CLI command before launching. Build and test APIs without a backend. ProxyHub ships with a built-in mock server and an API composer — no extra tools needed. Define API responses through a web UI — no backend server required. Supports exact, prefix, and regex path matching. Build and send HTTP requests from the inspector UI. Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month). I use this method in particular to test HTTP verification with Let's Encrypt for a SaaS app running on my Mac. Hope this is useful :) Code:…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them.
