In plain words

Python Tests That Write Themselves is a development tool that automatically generates test code for Python projects. Launched in 2019, it is designed for Python developers who want to reduce the manual effort required to create and maintain test suites. The tool stands out by eliminating the need to write tests from scratch, allowing developers to focus on code quality while saving time on testing infrastructure.

From the sources

hypothesis-auto is an extension for the Hypothesis project that enables fully automatic tests for type annotated functions. In old usage examples you will see _ prefixed parameters like _auto_verify= . This was done to avoid conflicting with existing function parameters. Based on community feedback the project switched to _ suffixes, such as auto_verify_= to keep the likely hood of conflicting low while avoiding the connotation of private parameters. from hypothesis_auto import auto_test def add ( number_1 : int , number_2 : int = 1 ) -> int : return number_1 + number_2 auto_test ( add ) # 50 property based scenarios are generated and ran against add auto_test ( add , auto_runs_ = 1_000 ) #…from timothycrosley.github.io

Hi HN! This is my pet project, written from scratch because there is so much to discover and learn in the process. The focus is on simplicity and incremental updates. Progress is slow because I do not have much spare time to work on this, but I would love to hear some feedback. Regards

Hi HN! We’re Adrien and Kanav. We met at our previous job, where we spent about a third of our lives combating a constant firehose of bugs. In the hope of reducing this pain for others in the future, we’re working on automating debugging. We’re currently working on a platform that ingests logs and then automatically reproduces, root causes and ultimately fixes production bugs as they happen. You can see some of our work on this here - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39528087 As we were building the root-cause phase of our automated debugger, we realized that we developed…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
