Qwen-3.7 Max
Cross harness foundation model for long running tasks
Qwen-3.7 Max launched on May 21, 2026 with 10 votes, #1,220 of 20,538 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.
What it does
Qwen-3.7 Max is a proprietary foundation model built for the agent era. It sustains coherent reasoning across 1,000+ tool calls, generalizes natively across Claude Code and OpenClaw scaffolds, and specializes in long-horizon autonomous software engineering.
Qwen Studio offers comprehensive functionality spanning chatbot, image and video understanding, image generation, document processing, web search integration, tool utilization, and artifacts.

Qwen3.8-MaxAug 2026 · qwen.ai · ▲277Qwen3.8-Max + MCP for coding on your local machine, without paying for Qwen Code. Qwen3.8-Max itself runs in the cloud through Qwen Studio — this setup just gives it access to your local files and terminal through MCP. My take: it is slower than Codex and Claude Code, especially in thinking mode, but it does work well. MCP adds some latency too since there’s an extra layer between the model and your machine. In fast mode, it gets noticeably closer. I wouldn’t put it in the same category as Fable or Opus-5. Personally, I’d place it closer to the next Opus 4.7 level in terms of coding ability.…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
