In plain words
Real-Time Web Collaborative Code Editing is a development tool that allows multiple programmers to work on code simultaneously through a web browser. Launched in 2012, the platform enables teams to edit code together in real time, making it useful for pair programming, remote collaboration, and educational settings. The service runs entirely in the browser, eliminating the need for local installation or setup.

CodeCafé – A real-time collaborative code editor in the browser2025 · github.com · ▲81Hey guys! I’ve been working on a web app called CodeCafé—a collaborative, browser-based code editor inspired by VS Code and Replit, but with no downloads, no sign-up, and zero setup. You just open the link and start coding—together. The frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and the backend runs on Java with Spring Boot, which handles real-time editing via WebSockets. For syncing changes, I’m using Redis along with a custom Operational Transformation system (no third-party libraries!!!). The idea came after I found out a local summer school was teaching coding using Google Docs (yes,…

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

A javascript library that allows easy manipulation of the favicon to include nice looking alert bubbles. This means that users can pin your site and still see when their attention is needed! It's been done before, but in my opinion not in a way aesthetically pleasing enough for production use. This library also falls back to the standard number in page title approach for browsers that do no support canvas / dynamic favicons. Thoughts welcome.
