What it does
Recall is the most secure, free, end-to-end encrypted and open-source alternative to Google Photos. It is built on top of Blockstack's platform allowing you to select the storage provider of your choice to securely store all your photos without file size restrictions. Help us shape the next generation of privacy focused applications.
Use a local LLM to search and rediscover your photos directly in your browser. No uploads, no tracking – fast, secure, and completely private.
All processing happens on your device if using Ollama. Your photos never leave your computer. Note: This model runs entirely in your browser. First run requires downloading ~2GB of data. Requires a GPU with at least 8GB VRAM for best performance. Current daily limit: 10 requests per user. Paid version coming soon. Adjust how aggressively the AI matches new faces to existing people. A stricter value prevents incorrect merges, while a looser value reduces duplicate people. Hello HN, Over the last year we've been building ente[1], a privacy-friendly, easy-to-use alternative to Google Photos. We've so far built Android[2][3], iOS[4], web[5] apps that encrypt your files and back them up in the background. You can access these across your devices, and share them with other ente users, end-to-end encrypted. You can also use our electron app[6] to maintain a local copy of your backed up files. We've built a fault-tolerant data replication layer that replicates your data to two different storage providers in the EU. We will be providing additional replicas as an…
