Revenant – automatic LLM powered reverse engineering and reimplement
I am a hardware engineer and security researcher and I've been wondering whether my work could be partially automated, so I can focus on other topics as well, so I build revenant - a LLM powered (Claude, OpenAI, local AI) toolkit that builds around radare2, ghidra etc and can fully automatically analyze firmware, implement open source skeletons incl. pinouts, hardware bringup, peripheral bringup etc. or can even 1:1 replicate existing firmware so old hardware can be resurrected with modern toolchains. Some applications are: - Give old hardware new life - Security Analysis of shady firmware…

- IBI built a tool to find the best and cheapest LLM models for my projects2024 · viewpointhq.com · ▲5
Hey HN, I've been working on something cool that I wanted to share with you all. It's called Viewpoint, an analytics tool for LLMs like OpenAI, Anthropic models, and Gemini. The idea came from the constant flood of new LLM models and the need to figure out which ones work best for my projects without breaking the bank. With viewpoint, I can track token usage, costs, latency(WIP), and traffic over time, making it easier to compare different models and see which ones perform best and save money. The tool works asynchronously, so it doesn't add any latency to your LLM requests, and you have…

Hey HN! When I started looking into LLMs and agents for software development and introducing them at work, I quickly realised that a person new to the topic faces a real barrage: - all the hype (AGI, engineers getting replaced by AI etc.) - conflicting opinions in virtually every discussion—for every person saying they’ve 10x-ed their productivity, there is a comment decrying LLMs as an utter failure - a lot of jargon (MoE, MCP, RAG, distillation, quantisation etc. etc.) - a profusion of models, IDEs/IDE extensions, CLI agents, other tools etc. Sorting through all of this can be quite…
- CMComposable middleware for LLM inference Optimization PassesMar 2026 · github.com · ▲7
Hey HN, I've been building AutoAgents, an AI agent framework in Rust. Today I'm sharing a feature I haven't seen done well elsewhere: composable middleware layers for LLM inference pipelines. The problem Every agent framework lets you swap LLM providers. Almost none of them give you a structured way to enforce safety, caching, or data sanitization in the inference path itself. You end up with guardrails as application-level if-statements, caching bolted on as a separate service, and PII handling as a "we'll add it later" TODO that never ships. This gets worse with local models. Cloud APIs…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

- H6Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481
Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
