Rulibre
I got tired of Calibre's heavy interface when all I needed was browsing my library and sending books to my e-reader. So I built Rulibre, a terminal UI that works directly with your existing Calibre library structure, no migration needed. Features: - Browse books sorted by author/title with a detail panel (metadata parsed from Calibre's .opf files) - Instant search/filter across author, title, and format - Send books to Kindle/Kobo with automatic EPUB→KEPUB conversion for Kobo - Convert between formats using kepubify or Calibre's ebook-convert - Mouse and keyboard support It's…

What it does
Rulibre is a fast, lightweight TUI alternative to Calibre's desktop app. It connects directly to your existing Calibre library, no migration needed. Browse books by author/title, search instantly, view full metadata, convert between formats, and send books to Kindle/Kobo (with auto EPUB→KEPUB conversion). Supports mouse and keyboard. Built with Rust. Install via cargo install rulibre

I got tired of Calibre's old, complex interface and its heavy storage footprint. All I really needed was a way to browse my library and transfer books to my e-reader, so I built a lightweight, drop-in replacement that works with your existing Calibre library structure. I also added things I found lacking or too complicated to use in Calibre, like instant book search. cargo install rulibre rulibre This installs the TUI (terminal) version — a single, dependency-free binary. The GUI version is source-only (see Build from source ). On first run, you'll be prompted for your Calibre library path. The path is saved to your system default config path. cargo uninstall rulibre Features Browse all…from github.com

Citadel – a Calibre-compatible eBook management app2024 · github.com · ▲338Hey folks! This winter I've been building Citadel to scratch my itch of managing ebooks without using Calibre. Calibre is incredibly powerful, but it's slow and awkward to use. I dreamed of writing a native app (and originally tried this in Swift), but ran into issues building the UI. Plus, whatever I built would only work on macOS. I started writing Citadel using Tauri (Svelte on the frontend + Rust on the backend) to have a cross-platform desktop app. Plus, Citadel supports running in a headless / webbrowser mode. You can self-host a Citadel server that manages your library, and…
Srcbook – A TypeScript notebook for rapid prototyping2024 · github.com · ▲267Srcbook (”source-book”) is an open-source TypeScript notebook that runs locally, powered by Node.js. It shines for rapid prototyping, code exploration, and collaborating on ideas. It’s inspired by Python’s Jupyter and Elixir’s Livebook. Key features: - Full npm ecosystem access - AI-assisted coding (OpenAI, Anthropic, or local models), it can iterate on the cells for you with a code diff UX that you accept/reject for a given code cell, generate entire Srcbooks, fix compilation issues, etc… - Exports to valid markdown for easy sharing and version control Try it now: `npx srcbook start`…

Offline audiobook from any format with one CLI command2024 · github.com · ▲105QuickPiperAudiobook locally generates an mp3 audiobook on Linux with one easy command. It can convert PDFs, epub, mobi, and many more by using ebook-convert. It uses any piper TTS model, and thus supports a wide variety of languages. I've had great success using it to read more while reducing eye strain and computer usage. I think I've probably read 30 or so books this way now over the past year. Being able to listen to any content you want in audio form free and offline while going for a walk is extremely handy. I hope it helps you as well! Cheers

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
