SayCopyPaste

Your voice, instantly pasted.

What it does

SayCopyPaste is a menu-bar dictation utility for macOS and Windows. Press and hold the Globe key or a custom hotkey, speak, and release — your transcript lands on the clipboard, ready to paste anywhere with ⌘V / Ctrl+V. No floating window, no app switching, no setup. Vocabulary learning remembers corrections so the transcripts get sharper over time. Transcripts stay on device by default. A 10-minute daily free tier covers light use; Pro unlocks unlimited dictation, hotkeys, and history.

Yap – OSS on-device voice dictation for macOS with no model to downloadJul 2026 · github.com · ▲104

Hey HN! I wanted to share this OSS project I've been working on. It's called Yap and its a small menu-bar app for macOS that does voice to text for any input. You'll set a hotkey, press it, talk, press it again, and the text gets pasted into whatever field you were in. Everything runs locally and never leaves your computer. Fully OSS and MIT licensed. With macOS 26, Apple recently added two new APIs, SpeechAnalyzer and SpeechTranscriber, that do streaming on-device speech to text using models the OS ships and manages. So the app ships no model of its own and loads nothing before the first…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
