It’s called Scavenger. In April, at a YC Hackathon, I came up with the idea to create augmented reality treasure hunts for cash prizes. I had been working on some VR projects for a while, but after receiving a lot of positive feedback about Scavenger, I decided to start full-time. My co-founder, Harry, came on board immediately after I pitched him the idea in early May. We then spent the next month building. On June 8th, we launched the beta. We had one player. By June 20th, we had 50. After some incredible feedback from those players we iterated, changing the product heavily. The new version was better in every way. It was more responsive, more attractive, and most importantly, more fun (oh and it worked more than 70% of the time ). We launched official early July, and the reception has been amazing. We now have more than 1000 MAU with over 100 individuals joining each hunt. We currently only have regular hunts in Chicago, but in celebration of launching on HN and Product Hunt, we are now running a hunt in SF. We would love to hear your thoughts.
