Screenslice
Share only part of your screen in video calls
Screenslice launched on April 8, 2026 with 72 votes, #730 of 21,248 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches.
What it does
Screenslice is built for people on ultrawides or large monitors who hate sharing their entire screen. It mirrors any selected region into a standard 1920×1080 window, so Meet and Teams can capture it cleanly. You get a movable overlay and freeze frame without reorganizing your whole desktop.

Utilities Developer Maksim Prokopyev Language EN English Size 966.5 KB Mac Screenslice lets you share a specific region of your screen during video calls instead of your entire display. Yes, a region - that feature you keep wishing your video call app had. KEY FEATURES - Place the selection overlay on any part of your screen, then share Screenslice's output window in Zoom, Teams, Meet, or whatever you use. - Viewers only see what's inside the rectangle. - Freeze frame lets you pause what viewers see while you check notes or rearrange things. The whole app lives in your menu bar. No main window, no account, no setup. It starts capturing as soon as you launch it. more Bug fixes mostly: -…from apps.apple.com

I wanted to show you something I was hacking on for the last few weeks. I tired of sharing screen via Google Meet with 1-hour limitation, with Zoom and 40-minute limitation, etc. With paid Slack subscription. And often times I just needed to screenshare with no audio. So I ended up with my own solution - no registration, low memory, low CPU, low tek 1 fps encrypted screen sharing. Currently sharing only the main screen (good for laptop users). It's very raw in terms of infrastructure, since I'm not counting bytes (yikes!), everything works on my own dedicated server. But the service itself…

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
