Sherlock
Give your iOS Simulator super-powers
Sherlock launched on January 22, 2019 with 83 votes, #456 of 2,587 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 7 years on.
What it does
Sherlock lets you edit views and layout constraints in real time, simulate running on other devices, and jump straight to the source code, all from your iOS Simulator - zero configuration required.
After a rewarding run, Sherlock is officially winding down. What started as a simple idea to make code analysis a little smarter turned into a project we’re genuinely proud of, thanks to the curiosity and support of everyone who tried it, shared feedback, or helped it grow. Unfortunately, the increasing complexity of maintaining the project, especially keeping pace with updates like Xcode 26, means we’re no longer able to dedicate the time needed to keep Sherlock up to date. While this chapter is closing, we believe Sherlock’s spirit still has more stories to tell. If you believe you’re the right fit to carry that mission forward, we’d be open to conversations about passing Sherlock into…from sherlock.inspiredcode.io

But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
