Shift
Shift electricity use to the least carbon intense grid times
Shift launched on September 16, 2019 with 70 votes, #638 of 3,296 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 7 years on.
What it does
Shift highlights the carbon intensity of the UK electricity grid in a clear, understandable format. It recommends the least intense 2-hour period in the next 24 hours, making it easier to schedule high consumption appliances when carbon intensity is lowest.
